Fruit of The Holy Spirit - Second Series

OK! lets deal with today's topic i.e Fruit of The Holy Spirit. It is the most essential and sensitive topic for every follower of Christ because in this modern world we are less prioritizing Holy Spirit's role in our daily activities. We think, it will be a bit awkward and impracticable to involve Holy Spirit in our most areas of life. We solely takes our decisions for financial affairs, for marriage and children and for our works but somehow for the shake of our name tag of  "Christian" we request the Holy Spirit to join in our Spiritual arena. Let us live our life guiding through Holy Spirit and fully functional through Him. We are effective and influential with & in Him. 
     "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness,    faithfulness,gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law" 
(Galatians 5:22-23). 

Introduction :The fruit (singular) mention by Paul sum up nine visible attributes of true Christian. We must understand that these are not individual 'fruits' (plural) to choose one as alternative over another rather these whole nine attributes completes and manifest one's life. Our spiritual status cannot be measured by Spiritual Gift but rather by Fruit of The Holy Spirit. We must inspect, evaluate and examine one's spiritual life on the basis of fruit of The Holy Spirit. Jesus taught his disciples and people that they will recognize them "by their fruit" (Matthew 7:20). Thus, we can summarize fruit of the Holy Spirit as a person's nature, attributes, quality, characters, behavior, mentality bearing successfully with the help of Holy Spirit. Surely, it is the outcome of spending and investing life in Him. 

Uniqueness: Obviously, Fruit of The Holy Spirit is unique in itself which guide us to its differences from Spiritual Gifts. Let's deal with those distinguishable characteristics; 
  • In our previous article, we understood that a person has at least one Gift but while talking about Fruit, whole nine attributes are mandatory for complete fruit so we must have those nine attributes in order to have fruit. There is no substitute. 
  • God is sole authoritative person in the area of Spiritual Gift. We don't get Gifts on the basis of our desire, wants, works etc rather He decides it and after that only our role activates. We are responsible to nurture, develop and utilize our Gifts. But Fruit of the Holy Spirit function differently, to have fruit we have to sow and cultivate just like farmer. It depends upon us, whether we will bear it or not.
  • Number of gifts doesn't depends on our desire but fruit of the Holy Spirit depends on our will and desire whether we want it or not. 
Bearing the Fruit: Jesus told His disciples, "if you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.." (John 15:5). In this busy world, we easily neglect our time that must be spent with God. You must sow and invest time in Holy Spirit in order to bear fruit. Start your day with Him and He will guide you. Today our problem is not a limited time but our problem is we are bad manager of our time. Plan your day, schedule time with God and He will help you to bear fruit everyday.
Why Fruit of The Holy Spirit : It helps us to transform ourselves in to the character of Jesus Christ. I believe nothing can transform us from cosmic (earthly) character to heavenly character. We must free ourselves from earthly greediness and lust to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. At last what makes difference is our fruit (Matthew 7:15-23).
                        If we don't bear fruit we cannot influence others. Today each one of Christian must believe that they are the mediator between God and unsaved people. We have great responsibility from God to save them. We can save them only through influence which is possible through fruit of the Holy Spirit otherwise our gospel will be only limited to our words not practically. Today many Christians limit their gospel only in tongue and when people cannot see fruit in christian it badly influence God's image upon them. So, to succeed in our great commission we must bear fruit of The Holy Spirit.
