We've come so far in the lesson from the Book of Nehemiah. We've learned so may things and it's really important to revised this Series so that we don't forget. You can check previous session of this series by visiting the links provided at last of this lesson. So here we are, at our final session of this lesson. Today we will cover chapter 10-13 from the book of Nehemiah.

The basic theme of this chapter is "Israel's Covenant with God"

let's go through the text:
Those who placed their seal on the document (Verse 9:38-10:1) :
At the end of Nehemiah chapter 9, the people had come to a place of decision, and now, collectively, the nation was going to do something about it by entering into a covenant.
Nehemiah 9:38 gives the sense of this:
"And because of all this, we make a sure covenant and write it; and our leaders and our Levites and our priests shall seal it"

In Nehemiah 9:38, make a covenant is literally “cut a covenant”

What is Covenant according to Bible?

Example : Christian Marriage is Holy and beautiful because of two things
                 - God's presence ( Adam & Eve Marriage)
                 - Covenant

Each Israelites Signed the Covenant (Verse 1-29):
Here are the leaders (84 in all) willing to put their name on the line for the covenant before God.
The Levites who signed the covenant : (9-13)
The civic leaders who signed the covenant : (14-27)

Covenant for what?
Covenant for obeying God's command & Law.
Israelites forefather and themselves had broken the covenant and here they repented for their sin and experienced spiritual renewal and now they are again taking themselves inside the God's covenant.

Church, are we committed to follow and obey God's law and command in every situation and circumstances? or we are just cooperating with world?

"Either we love God or not? Either we follow Christ 100% or not. There is no such thing as 50%, 70% or 90%."
Mathhew 12:30 “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters"

1 Samuel 15:22-23 "Story of Saul"

"The Word of God is complete in it's application"

Obeying God's command & Law:
- As we knew the current situation of Israelites (destruction of wall, temple and slavery to other nations, no unity) is because they refused to obey the command and law of God in the promised land
- When we fails to obey God we fails in life.
